Marvel Rivals player proves why Moon Knight is actually unfair

One of the most annoying Marvel Rivals characters to play against is Moon Knight. He flies around the map dropping ankhs that tear you apart the second you step into their radius. And any time a match enters overtime with everyone stacked on the payload, you can bet there will be a Moon Knight somewhere doing the Iron Man grin as he slams his ultimate for an easy team wipe.

In the season 1 balance patch, NetEase actually buffed his ult to make the claws of Khonshu rain down from the portal in the sky a little faster. It’s now pretty common to only hear him say the first two words of “The moon haunts you!” before you’re toast. But according to Reddit user Sidewaysgts, dying to his ult might not be entirely your fault.

The official description on the Marvel Rivals website says Moon Knight’s ult calls down multiple ghostly claws that deal 75 damage in a small radius. However, Sidewaysgts discovered that each claw does double that, and they can even hit you standing outside the highlighted circle. This bug with the ult would explain why everyone, including high-health tanks, are getting obliterated.

Now before you start blaming a bug on all your deaths, it’s worth pointing out that the problem here isn’t that it’s lethal, but that it’s misleadingly lethal. It isn’t clear that each claw explodes twice, and it’s a little unfair that it can reach outside the ult’s circle. And when you combine that with other issues, like how the voice line doesn’t go off if Moon Knight dies as he ults, it ends up being hard to play against even when you’re prepared for it.

Even with this overpowered ult, Moon Knight isn’t actually one of the strongest characters in the game at the moment. According to RivalsMeta, he’s one of the heroes with the lowest average win rate across all competitive ranks. But that doesn’t mean he’s not the number one villain in quick match right now.

Fingers crossed that this gets fixed in the next update coming this Friday. Right now, there’s the Chinese New Year event that introduces a couple new skins and a new Rocket League-like mode that might be the only place safe from Moon Knight.
