Disney Dreamlight Valley’s next expansion, called Storybook Vale, will be released on Nov. 20, developer Gameloft announced Tuesday. The expansion costs $29.99 on its own and $59.99 for the base game and Storybook Vale, which will be released in two parts.
The first part, called “Welcome to the Vale,” adds a new storyline; three new biomes; and new characters like Merida from Brave, Flynn Rider from Tangled, and Hades from Hercules. There’s a new tool, the Royal Net, which can be used to catch cute papercraft animals. The three new biomes are Ever After, the Bind, and Mythopia. Each has its own new companion animals like dragons, owls, and winged horses, respectively.
The second part of the expansion, called “The Unwritten Realms,” is expected in summer 2025 and will add iconic Disney villain Maleficent to the game.
Gameloft announced the new expansion in a game showcase published Tuesday, alongside information about upcoming free updates to Disney Dreamlight Valley. Players can expect a bunch of customization features when the “Sew Delightful” update is released on Dec. 4. Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas is joining Disney Dreamlight Valley.
There’s also a new feature called Floating Islands, which lets players freely decorate an open area with everything they’ve collected, all while preserving the current layout of their own Valley. One big change that players will be eager to use is the ability to rotate items on many more angles — previously, you could rotate on four points, whereas this update ups that to 16 points of rotation.
The showcase included a content roadmap that alludes to the addition of Jasmine and Aladdin in early 2025, and Alice in Wonderland’s Cheshire Cat sometime in 2025. The area beneath Skull Rock is expected to be released in summer 2025.
Disney Dreamlight Valley has one previous expansion, A Rift in Time, which can be purchased with the base game and Storybook Vale for $79.99. If you already own Disney Dreamlight Valley, there’s also a bundle that includes Storybook Vale as well as exclusive items, like a baby Pegasus companion, for $49.99.
